I'm not to picky when it comes to the flethings on an arrow. I normaly just shot whatever kind of vane that Gold Tip puts on there XT Hunters. However, I do like those Quick Fletch Speed Hunter Vanes. I have used these on arrows when the fletchings get bad and they shot the same as what comes on the Gold Tip XT's. The white color on the end sure helps you see the blood better.

Feathers are very forgiving but you will lose some accuracy at longer yardages. Blazers are good, but they tend to not be very forgiving. For hunting I dont think there are any bad vanes, I mostly shoot Blazers. I had shot 3" marco vanes until they came out. Most folks have no problems with either, but I got into bowhunting from the target archery side of things.

Feathers for sure my friend. But, I use a bamboo and wood bow or an all wood bow with an arrow rest. the feathers lay down on the rest while the vanes bounce the arrow a bit. Traditional and modern shooting is a totally different science and set of phyisics to consider. i even use feathers on a mediaval style crossbow too.

Hey Guys,

Those arrows that BestCresting has for his profile pic are mine. They are beautiful. Professionally done and some of the best work Ihave seen in along time. They are in fact painted crest's and not wraps. You can not tell the diff. looking at them. Any of y'all that will be at the vet's hunt can see them up close and personal. I will have them with me if any of y'all are interested in seeing BestCresting's work. Best of all, the price is right..............................

Iactually use those heat shrink fletching things with quick spin 4" vanes. I like them and they're easy to do.

I am a huge fan of any of the Quikspin products. I shoot the 4 inchers and love them. I shoot a fall away rest, I fletched up some for my buddy that uses a Whisker Biscuit, they shot good for about a week and then started rippling. I see now that Quikspin has made a copy of the Blazer style, anyone tried those through their biscuit?

I shot the 2" quick spins thru my WB and didn't get any rippling. (I think these are what your are comparing to the blazer vanes) They make a little noise but are way accurate. I'm giving the blazer vanes a go now to see if I like them, next I'm going to try x-vanes 3"

NAP QS Twister 2" without the little kicker on the vane, I was talking about the ST's (with Kicker) that made a little noise. I checked out the new ones and they are just like blazer vanes. let me know what your buddy thinks of them!

I have been using Blazer Vanes in 2" since they hit the market. Every thing else I have tried just don't work like I want them to

Question for everybody or anybody with the answers I'm looking for!!

How short of vanes can you put on crossbow bolts? as long as their profile isn't to tall

On your first question..I shoot Blazers with my bow now. When I shot my recurve I shot feathers.

I have never shot a x-bow or fletched a bolt..Sorry I cant help ya with that.

On my 22" bolts they are 5" long with a 1/2 profile

I tried the quick spin with the kickers and they make an awful racket when the leave the bow. I had fletched 4 arrows and had 4 of my blazers and had shot several times to make sure it just was not me thinking some thing was wrong with them. I will have this on film and hope that I can catch the noise and put it up in a couple of days.

I agree with the noise, but they do improve your groupings. I'm going to give x-vanes a go to see how I like them. Thanks for the bolt reply mrstxbhunter.

I switched to blazers. My broadheads were shooting two inches left and 6 inches low. Refletched with blazers. Whamo. Right on, wasp jack hammers got to expensive to be shooting deer in the swamps. Went back to muzzys.

3" vanes work on Xbow bolts...my R&D guy said they are shooting much flatter (2" higher as previously sighted in) and sinkin deeper in to the target at 30 yds. 3" duravanes with a helix more than the factory 5" I called and aske Horton if I could put shorter vanes on, they said firmly 5" only......I listen well!

I shoot both. One Conquest 3 is setup for Gold Tip's flteched with Flex Fletch 3.8 vanes and the other Conquest 3 is setup with same shaft fletched with 4" True Flight feathers.
