This is the hunt that was auctioned to help out a family in need, a guy bought it and donated it. Rod aka tyrod, got it. He and his son came in Friday and we headed to the range. After Rod and heath did a little shooting we headed for the field. It was a bit windy and hot. Half of my places were covered up with family of the owners due to spring break, way too much human activity for hunting! We finally called in a coyote on the 5th stand and he backdoored us from the area of the last stand we made. That is the second time that has happened on this same place and stand. Rod shot, the coyote dropped and then left the country. A few more dry stands and Heath shot his first animal ever a "giant" Texas cottontail, blew it's head smooth off! The boy can shoot!

Now we were headed to the last stand of the day. I told Rod I was not going to be happy if he shot my white coyote I've been after for 3 years! Well guess who showed up at the 6 minute mark, yep you guessed it the white coyote! Rod shot she dropped and spun and was up and runnin'! She fell in a shallow depression and disappeared. I told Rod we should back out and come back the next day. He reluctantly agreed and I can't say as I blame him. He didn't get much sleep that night. The next day after hunting all morning dry stand after dry stand we decided it was time to go look. We picked up my blood trail pups and Michelle and headed out. We found good blood right away and the pups helped keep us on the right trail while Michelle headed to the creek a half mile away at the end of the strip of timber we were searching, to see if the coyote had headed to the water and to watch in case we pushed her. At first Michelle didn't see her on the other side of the creek, but after setting and watching a while she noticed something moving. It was the coyotes tail! She decided to just watch until we caught up with her. However we pushed a few deer and the spooked the bedded coyote she stood up and Michelle made a nice 50 yards shot with a load of 12 ga. dead coyote. And here's the prize, oh and I guess I'll let Rod live.

It was hot and windy so we decided to hunt hogs. As we drove in to the place we had seen some good hog sign earlier in the day we spotted a HUGE hog of in the distance Michelle and I both thought it was a cow, then we spotted the smaller hogs. Rod and I put the stalk on them and put Michelle and heath on an escape route. Unfortunately we encountered a large group of hogs before we got to the big boy so we had to make the best of it. I let Rod take the first shot and he made 2 good shots on a nice boar. I had to shoot mine on the fly and was able to drop her as well. Heath shot a hog also, but we couldn't find it.

We stopped for dinner dropped Michelle and Heath off {he was wore out} and hunted all night long till 6am! The critters turned back on at midnight and we called 4 coyotes, 4 bobcats{1 really close cat} and no telling how many coons unfortunately Rod was only able to make contact with 1 of the coyotes. Rod and Heath are good people and a lot of fun to hunt with. Oh by the way Rod handled the verbal abuse very well!
