Wild pigs usually live to about 10 years old, although some have been recorded living as long as 27 years. Mortality in the young is high.

Why is mortality so high in the young?

The young remain in the nest for some time after birth. Females are extremely protective of their young. Despite these protective measures, on average only half of a litter will survive to maturity, many fall prey to predators and disease.

not to mention hunting and trapping, those mosters and satilite boars survive for a reason...

in the article inntitled Feral hogfs in Texas, featured on our home page, it says that hogs in the wild average 4 tp 5 years and some make it to about 8.
