This buck was poached by a Cannon Falls, MN resident (or local area). The articles that I read said that he had shot it halloween (Archery season only) but he used a rifle. He went to a taxidermist to get it mounted. The taxidermist along with other TIP calls they nailed this dude. He had already shot 2 other deer illegally prior to shooting this monster. This is somewhat the same area of MN that the 23 ptr was taken last year during archery.
They say that this would have been the largest 8 ptr. scored (1 score said 198 and another put it at 185). Michigan is current holder with n 8 ptr scoring 180
