I got tired of building rectangular trap, so I decided to try a few round ones. The trap is 8' in diameter and 4' tall. It doesn't have a floor (but it could) and it only has a secondary ring at the top instead of a full top.

The spring-loaded door swings inward and is released by a simple trip string hooked to a stiff, wire "hook".

One of the main things I like about the trap is that one man can easily move it....just roll it across the pasture to where you want it. Because of it's light weight, I drove a couple of t-posts on opposite sides of the trap. I wired the trap frame to those posts so that a hog can't root under the bottom frame and lift the trap up.

I didn't want to put a top on it so that deer could jump out. The inner top ring will keep a hog from climbing out..... usually when they climb out, they do it in a corner. This trap doesn't have one!

Round traps are my favorite. I had a door similar to this on one of my older traps and it kept getting hung on the ground while trying to close after I caught a few hogs and it got kinda rooted up in there...also, when it was wet and muddy out, the hogs would push the mud out towards the edge and I could not get the door open. That was not a problem when I just shot the hogs in the trap...HOW do you remove the hogs from this trap?

Shane,

I haven't had any problems with the door.....yet. We just back the transport trailer up to the trap, open the door with a rope and load 'em up.

If it becomes a problem, a drop door would be easy to add.
