Gary and Bruce, two brothers, hadn't seen each other for a while.... so they decided to "get together" and have a little fun. One traveled from Minnesota and the other from Oregon and they met in the hog woods of Texas for a little hog whackin!

After getting everyone fitted for helmets and goggles, we headed out into the night...and it was a dark one! Even though we had a new moon and a lot of clouds we didn't have any trouble finding the hogs. This time of year they're hitting the pecan orchards pretty hard, so that's what we concentrated on. An hour or so into the hunt we spotted a group of rooters and planned our stalk. We had everything in our favor....the wind, a dark night, easy walking....then the cows decided to even the playing field. Sometimes I think the cows are working with the hogs. There we are, halfway to the hogs and the cows decide to take a go for a little nighttime run....right through the group of hogs. Needless to say, the hogs decided that it was probably in their best interests to find another place to eat and off they went....escorted by their 50-cow security force.

It wasn't long before we found another target... a lone boar. After a cow-free stalk, Gary and Bruce dopped him in his tracks.

We decided to check out the other pecan orchards on the ranch so we loaded up and started making tracks. About halfway there, we saw a group of about 50 hogs. The only problem was that they were on the wrong side of the fence, so we had to pass on them and continue on. An hour later, we had more hogs in our sights. We managed to avoid the cows and opened up on the group from about 75 yards away. When the shooting stopped, the brothers had dropped 5 more !....a total of 6 for the night!

Thursday night we got a an earlier start and went off in search of the large group we had seen the night before. It didn't take too long to find them and, this time, they were on the right side of the fence! Halfway through the stalk we had a group of deer blowing at us but, luckily, they didn't spook the hogs. There were about 30 hogs, spread out over 200 yards. We went after a group of 8 and the brothers sent 5 of them to meet their maker.

While we were taking pictures, we noticed a group a 9 traveling in the distance....1000 yards away. We hopped back in the Ranger and went in pursuit. After driving a mile or so, we managed to get ahead of the group and we set up an ambush at the next cross fence. When the lead hog was about 50 yards away we opened fire. I would've been happy with 4 or 5 but the brothers had their act together and put 8 of the 9 on the ground...only one little pig got away. Excellent shooting guys!

We totally enjoyed the two hunts and look forward to hunting with Gary and Bruce again. Thanks to their trigger skills (19 hogs in 2 nights), we're sitting at 45 hogs, on 5 client hunts, in 2010 .....a 9 hog per night average!

I have a problem with hunting with Tactical hog Control.First I didn't have anybody to hunt with so they got me somebody that was by his self to hunt with ,then I mentioned it to a contractor that works for me and he said he wanted to go ,then I told my son so now he wants to go.Was talking to my employes and one of them wanted to go,looks like were going to end up with a bus load of hunters all wanting to blast a hog.I can't wait.
