Have been after this guy for over 3 weeks now and finally connected with him a few days ago. Video quality is pretty poor as light was fading fast, but I got what I could on film....

Marlin .30-30, Hornady LeverEvo 160 gr. FTX, 2200 fps @ 50 yds. First shot spined him, 2nd shot went in under the top of the skull. Dirt nap....

Good things. I have been considering making a hog rig of my 94 using Leverlution ammo. I haven't done it yet since I just bought a very nice Savage 110 Pre-Accutrigger 30-06. I took off the bushnell scope that came with it and mounted a Leupold, 3X9-40, Rifleman on it. I get quarter sized groupings at 25 yards. I only took it out once but didn't get a shot. Maybe next time.

I may mount the Bushnell scope on the 94, ad a sling and use it as a 2nd hog gun. I love the Winchester but it has beena closet queen until Horady came out with the Leverlution ammo.

There are obviously good and bad things about all calibers, rounds, and guns. The one thing I do know is that Hornady actually used the Marlin .30-30 to develop the LeverEvolution round. So alot of times, you'll hear ballistics guys complain about finding the 'perfect' round which 'suits' their particular gun. I don't have that problem with this set-up. This gun with this round is more accurate than anything I have experience with. If I had my druthers, I would move up to a .308 cal., and then go bullet searching from there. I've seen crappy ammo from short-barreled asault rifles plug clean through 300+ # boars. Skin, plate, vitals, spine, vitals, plate, skin, out. Real DRT stuff. So I am VERY impressed with the .308. Really, I think that's all one would bneed to drop the biggest boar. (And that's not even a head shot). But I'm fortunate enough to have a big objective scope which lets me see them real clear so I can put my bullet in the boiler room. Sometimes they struggle, sometimes they get up, and sometimes they run off. But more often than not, it works. What I HAVE learned about shooting this round with this gun is that with the bigger boars, you HAVE to wait for a flat-side (broadside) shot. Any angle at all puts things in jeopardy because of bone structure. But with the ole' .308, angle isn't so much of an issue....

Happy shootn'!
