I am soon going to purchase a new ARtype gun and honestly dont know were to start. i have a budget of about 1100 dollars tax and all. i seam to really like the .308 cal and have been swaying towards the remington R-25 mossay oak camo. i also like the remington R -15 chambered in .450 bushmaster, but i think there like a dollar a round and thats not very cost effective for a gun that is supposed to be for all round. Im lookinf for something i can use all round Deer,Hog,Coyote, and something i can makenice groups at 300-400 yards andjust mess around with that wont cost me a ton to shoot, but then again i can bring down an animal when i need to . so let me know what yall would suggest or recomend.

Thanks

I just bought a dpms ar 10 308 caliber with a bull barrel ,2 20 rd clips in a case brand new, then I put a cheap scope to shoot it a few times.List price $1050 I swapped a shot gun in on it ,so far I am happy with it but I have just shot it at 50 yards.I have not been able to hunt with it yet because I lost my hunting spot.I want a night scope for it but thats later.

I'd love to have one myself. 308 is a good all a round caliber. I think that the 450 is over kill. I wouldn't rule out the 7mm08 which is just as flat shotting as the 308with a touch more punch. As far as cost goes you can shot the 308 probably cheaper than any other round in the 150gr bullet size. The R-25 is nice and you will pay more for that camo paint job, from what I have read DPMS makes the Remington R-25. R-25's run about $1500 you can get a DPMS for less than $1000. hope this helps, I have been looking to get one too but not any time real soon

What about the Ruger mini 14 ranch riffle, that is another good option

I'd go with the DPMS also well priced very nice action good feel, some times you may have to adjust the trigger to your liking but out of the box I'd pick it. The .308 is my choice of caliber also with 150 grainers standard and I believe you can find 165's for it also. Dont skimp with the glass you put onit its a shame when folks invest alot of money on good accurate weapons and then put the cheapest glass they can find for em. If your budget is 1100 then tell your weapons dealer so and tell him that would include glass also. There are some really good optics out there that are mid priced and dont cost an arm and a leg but arent cheapies either. Make your dealer do some work for you, after all thats what you are paying him for. Just dont jump into it too fast, take your time and look around with other gun dealers dont be afraid to drive a hundred miles for a purchase to get what you truly want. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps.

stay with the 308, ammo is pretty easy to find and not to pricy, 450 is overkill on varmits, ammo is real pricy. I had a dpms, loved it , but i like to keep my brass and i couldn't find it after shootin, put good optics on it, these rifles are very accurate and some cheaper optics will not take the cycling ation
