    Trap Month for THH

Hey Guys, Some of us pro staffers are looking at keeping this the best site out there so we would like to hear from all of y'all. Send us some of your ideas as far as trapping hogs, ie. what type traps you use, the triggers you use, bait and trap doors etc. If you transport your caught hogs, what kind of set-up do you have? Let us and everyone else here, in on your little secrets. We all want this site to stay on top so swamp the threads with whatever you have and keep them coming in. (Gigem and Txbhunter1)

Come on guys.....Let's see those traps ! Rectangular, square, round? Guillotine door, rooter door, swinging door? What type of trigger do you like? How about baits? How do you feel about bottoms in a trap? What about tops? Once you trap your hogs, what do you do with them? If you sell them (and you like your buyer) let us know. Who is paying what? I'm swamped for the next couple of days but I'll get some pictures up here asap. If you don't trap hogs, but you have a trapping question.....Ask it! You'll probably get your answer (or at least a nice line of BS !) I'm looking forward to this.....

Guys, I am putting together a hog trapping video for this topic, it will be a few days or more before I get it completed, but it will be a vid about the way I trap hogs...I am holding nothing back. So it should be good. You just gotta be patient with me till I get it done!!! Thanks Great idea Guys!!! _____________________________________________ Shane Ladewig >>-------------------------------> TexasHogHunter.com Pro Staff Member

I have a swing gate trap that I bought from Gander mountain. Works real good on smaller hogs. The trap is not very tall and the larger hogs will not go in because they hit their backs on the top of the trap. The largest hog we have caught was 130lbs. and it's back was barely touching the top. I will take it home later and try to make it taller. Me and my brother are talking about setting up some traps that look like the number 6. Does anybody use these and how well do they work?

i make and use box traps, they work fine, but hogs get smart to them real fast. most traps are 8 ft. lonf 4 ft. wide and 4 ft. tall. you usually will only catch one hog per trap, but they are usually good size hogs. gettin hogs out alive is usually a thrill

My box traps are about the same size made of horse panels. Some with the bottom in them and some without. Ihave had good success with the no bottom ones in short grass and river bottoms. The ones that have a bottom, Isave for grassy areas. For some reason, Ihave seen hogs not go in if they see the bottoms.
