    Shotgun barrel length

Would an 18 inch barrel be appropriate to hunt with slugs? What would be the effective range? I have a 28 inch barrel as well. Would that one work better?

I would use the longer barrel. Typically, with a longer barrel, you get better accuracy and muzzle velocity. Short barrels sometimes result in the bullet leaving the barrel, before all of the gunpowder is burned....resulting is decreased muzzle velocity, which would affect range and accuracy.
